This is an early advisory for the potential development of severe weather, so that appropriate preparations and precautions can be made in good time. Official SEVERE WEATHER WARNING of EXTREME THUNDERSTORMS with EXTREMELY HEAVY RAIN and HAIL There is a risk of extreme thunderstorms with gale- or storm-force gusts, extremely heavy rain and hail (level 4 of 4). Occurrence: localised; Approaching from: south-west; Max. gusts: ~ 100 km/h; Precipitation amounts: 40-60 l/m²; Hail: ~5 cm Danger to life and limb due to: lightning (danger to life!); single falling trees; objects falling to the ground; rapid and widespread flooding of roads, subways and basements; very widespread aquaplaning; possible mudslides; hail. Recommendations for what to do: Avoid staying outdoors and travelling at all cost. Avoid being near lakes and rivers Secure scaffolding and free-standing objects (e.g. screens and platforms/stages). For example, fasten tents and coverings or, if there is enough time, take them down completely. Watch out for falling objects (e.g. large branches, roof tiles) and seek shelter if possible. Be prepared for considerable and widespread disruption to transport routes, including road closures. If appropriate, take precautions against flooding. If flooding is expected or has already set in, immediately leave lower storeys and move to higher places. Keep up to date on the flood situation at www.hochwasserzentralen.de Be prepared for interruptions to distribution networks (e.g. electricity, mobile phone network). Keep up to date on the situation via radio, television, internet, etc. Follow the instructions of disaster management or civil protection authorities. Inform other people who might be at risk (e.g. neighbours, friends and family).
