At 336 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 13 nm west of Naples to 12 nm southwest of Cape Romano, moving west at 20 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Locations impacted include... Naples, Vanderbilt Beach, Cape Romano Aquatic Preserve, Cape Romano, Marco Island, and Bonita Shores. Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes. Special Weather Statement issued July 10 at 3:13PM EDT by NWS Miami FL At 313 PM EDT, National Weather Service meteorologists were tracking a strong thunderstorm near Lely Resort, or 9 miles south of Golden Gate Estates, moving northwest at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Naples, Marco Island, Golden Gate Estates, Naples Park, Belle Meade, Marco Island Airport, Naples Manor, Golden Gate, East Naples, Lely Resort, West Toll Gate On Alligator Alley, Vineyards, Royal Palm Hammock, North Naples, Orangetree, Pelican Bay, Lely, South Blocks Golde, Rookery Bay Aquatic Preserve, and Picayune Strand State Forest. These winds can down small tree limbs and branches, and blow around unsecured small objects. Seek shelter in a safe building until the storm passes. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
