Flood Warning issued June 21 at 2:35PM CDT until June 23 at 2:01AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Kansas... Slate Creek At Wellington affecting Cowley and Sumner Counties. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Slate Creek at Wellington. * WHEN...Until early Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 25.7 feet, Water begins to flow across Highway 81 just to the north of the river bridge located south of town. Cropland and field flooding will be more expansive. The creek will swell to around 3/4 of a mile wide in areas. Slate Creek flood waters will pour over the Kansas Turnpike and inundate about a quarter mile of the road around 4 miles south of the Wellington exit. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:00 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 23.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 24.9 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage early tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 19.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. Flood Warning issued June 21 at 2:25PM CDT until June 21 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Street flooding, county road flooding, and small stream flooding caused by last night's heavy rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of south central Kansas, including the following counties, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...Until 900 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 225 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicate between 3 and 6 inches of rain occurred last night across the warned area. This is causing flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, city streets, and other low-lying and flood- prone locations. - Some locations that may experience flooding include... Derby, Arkansas City, Winfield, Haysville, Wellington, Mulvane, Rose Hill, Kingman, Clearwater, Cheney, Douglass, Belle Plaine, Harper, Conway Springs, Oxford, Garden Plain, Udall, Pretty Prairie and Burden. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.

Flood Watch issued June 21 at 11:48AM CDT until June 22 at 1:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of south central Kansas, including the following counties, Cowley and Sumner. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - An additional round of showers and storms producing heavy rain will be possible this afternoon, causing additional flooding. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
