Heat Advisory issued September 13 at 1:19PM CDT until September 14 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Shreveport LA * WHAT...Heat index values up to 108. * WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Arkansas, north central and northwest Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, and east and northeast Texas. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Special Weather Statement issued September 13 at 4:45PM CDT by NWS Shreveport LA At 445 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking an area of strong thunderstorms 15 miles northwest of Clarks, or 14 miles northwest of Columbia, moving southwest at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Ruston, Grambling, Jonesboro, Columbia, Jena, Arcadia, Olla, Clarks, Grayson, Midway, Urania, Choudrant, Simsboro, Chatham, Hodge, North Hodge, Vienna and Tullos. Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
