For the Extreme Heat Warning, from noon to 8 PM CDT Thursday. For the second Heat Advisory, from 8 PM Thursday to 8 PM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Special Weather Statement issued July 1 at 7:07PM CDT by NWS Memphis TN At 707 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms near Paynes, or near Charleston, moving west at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Clarksdale, Senatobia, Batesville, Charleston, George Payne State Park, John W Kyle State Park, Tutwiler, Marks, Sardis, Lambert, Jonestown, Como, Crenshaw, Crowder, Webb, Sledge, Sumner, Pope, Belen, and Paynes. This includes Interstate 55 in Mississippi between mile markers 228 and 265. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for northwestern Mississippi.
