Flood Watch issued September 29 at 1:18AM CDT until October 2 at 1:00AM CDT by NWS San Angelo TX * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following counties, Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Concho, Crockett, Fisher, Haskell, Irion, Jones, Kimble, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Nolan, Runnels, San Saba, Schleicher, Shackelford, Sterling, Sutton, Taylor, Throckmorton and Tom Green. * WHEN...From late tonight through late Thursday night. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - There is an increased danger to lives and property due to flash flooding. Flash flooding is likely and considerable flash flooding is possible. - Multiple rounds of heavy rain are possible through Thursday night as an influx of moisture arrives from the remnants of a tropical disturbance. This will coincide with an approaching upper level low pressure system and an associated frontal boundary. High precipitable water values will support efficient rainfall production with this activity. Model guidance suggests heavy rain and thunderstorms capable of producing rainfall totals in the 2 to 4 inch range across the watch area. Special Weather Statement issued September 28 at 10:54AM CDT by NWS San Angelo TX The threat for very heavy rainfall and significant flash flooding is increasing across west central Texas mainly Tuesday night through Thursday. The combination of the remnants of Hurricane Polo from the Pacific, abundant tropical moisture and a cold front will result in periods of very heavy rainfall which may produce localized significant flash flooding. Looks like the heaviest rainfall will set up mainly east of a Sweetwater to Ozona line with widespread 2 to 3 inches. Isolated totals of around 10 inches are not out of the question by Thursday evening mainly east of a Coleman to Sonora line.
