Missouri River At Rulo affecting Richardson and Holt Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Missouri River at Nebraska City. * WHEN...Until Tuesday, July 02. * IMPACTS...At 25.0 feet, Though not in danger of flooding yet, flood preparations begin for critical facilities along this portion of the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:00 AM CDT Monday the stage was 18.5 feet...or 0.5 feet above flood stage. - Bankfull stage is 18.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the last 24 hours was 18.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 25.2 feet early Thursday afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Tuesday, July 02. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Heat Advisory issued June 24 at 8:56AM CDT until June 24 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE * WHAT...For the first Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 108 expected. For the second Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 105 expected. * WHERE...In Iowa, Fremont and Page Counties. In Nebraska, Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee, and Richardson Counties. * WHEN...For the first Heat Advisory, from 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM CDT this evening. For the second Heat Advisory, from 1 PM to 7 PM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
