Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued July 1 at 6:19PM EDT until July 1 at 7:00PM EDT by NWS Binghamton NY At 619 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Boonville to near Sylvan Beach, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Rome, Oneida, Lee, Verona, Vienna, Sherrill, Camden, Boonville, Forestport, and Vernon. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Temperatures will stay very warm at nighttime limiting the ability for cooling of non air-conditioned places. * WHERE...Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed.
