Flood Warning issued September 25 at 3:29AM MDT until September 25 at 9:30AM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southeastern Lincoln County in central New Mexico... Southern Curry County in east central New Mexico... Roosevelt County in east central New Mexico... Chaves County in southeastern New Mexico... * WHEN...Until 930 AM MDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 324 AM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Thunderstorms are moving northeastward through the warned area. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Roswell, Clovis, Portales, Dexter, Hagerman, Texico, Melrose, Elida, Dora and Elkins. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

In east central New Mexico, Curry County and Roosevelt County. In southeast New Mexico, Chaves County Plains and Southwest Chaves County. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A swath of heavy rain over the past 24 hours from near Ruidoso through Roswell up to Clovis of 2 to 6 inches of rain will allow any new storm passing over this area to threaten flash flooding through today and this evening. - Rapid runoff and flash flooding will be most likely in complex terrain, below recent burn scars, low-lying areas, urban areas, normally dry arroyos, near rivers and streams, and in locations where the ground is already saturated from recent heavy rainfall. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
