Red Flag Warning issued May 7 at 2:01PM MDT until May 7 at 9:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM ...RED FLAG WARNING TODAY UNTIL 9 PM AREAWIDE BELOW SNOWPACK DUE TO STRONG WINDS, VERY LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE... ...RED FLAG WARNING WEDNESDAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 8 PM IN EASTERN NM DUE TO STRONG WINDS, VERY LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE... .A dangerous and critical fire weather pattern will unfold today as strong to severe winds, warmer temperatures, very low humidity and unstable conditions combine. All of northern and central New Mexico is expected to observe these critical conditions today, but the strongest winds will be focused over and near the Sangre de Cristo mountains. The lowest humidity will be found in central to eastern areas of the state where readings of less than 10 percent will persist for several hours. Critical conditions are forecast to redevelop tomorrow afternoon east of the central mountain chain. The lowest humidity and strongest winds will focus over the Northeast Highlands and Northeast Plains. * AREA AND TIMING...Northwest Plateau (Zone 101), West Central Mountains (Zone 105), Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106), West Central Basin and Range (Zone 109), North Central Mountains (Zone 120), and the Upper Rio Grande and Lower Chama River Valleys (Zone 121) from 10 AM until 9 PM Tuesday. * 20 FOOT WINDS...West 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Between 5 and 12 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the field of this Red Flag Warning.

Tree limbs may be blown down. Expect strong crosswinds on area roadways. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
