Flash Flood Warning issued June 23 at 9:08AM MDT until June 23 at 1:15PM MDT by NWS Goodland KS FFWGLD The National Weather Service in Goodland has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... Eastern Dundy County in southwestern Nebraska... Hitchcock County in southwestern Nebraska... * Until 115 PM MDT /215 PM CDT/. * At 908 AM MDT /1008 AM CDT/, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Trenton, Stratton and Max. Heaviest rainfall is still moving into the area from the north. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Flood Watch issued June 23 at 9:45AM CDT until June 24 at 10:00AM CDT by NWS Goodland KS * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northwest Kansas, including the following areas, Cheyenne KS, Decatur and Rawlins and southwest Nebraska, including the following areas, Dundy and Hitchcock. * WHEN...Through Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Incoming heavy to torrential rainfall is forecast to lead to the potential for a few more inches of rainfall through the morning hours along with the potential for additional rainfall overnight. Due to already saturated soils and high creeks and streams flooding may continue to pose a threat to life and property. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
