Red Flag Warning issued June 27 at 1:49AM MDT until June 28 at 12:00AM MDT by NWS Salt Lake City UT * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 478 Salt Lake Desert, Fire Weather Zone 482 Western Uintah Basin, Fire Weather Zone 484 Tavaputs Plateau, Fire Weather Zone 488 Manti National Forest, Fire Weather Zone 492 Central Utah West Desert, Fire Weather Zone 493 Central Utah Mountains, Fire Weather Zone 495 Color Country West Desert, Fire Weather Zone 496 Color Country Mountains and Fire Weather Zone 497 Mojave Desert. * WINDS...Southwest to west winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 to 50 mph developing by late morning. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 10 to 15 percent this afternoon and evening. * IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected. Any new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now...or are imminent. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Special Weather Statement issued June 27 at 12:16PM MDT by NWS Salt Lake City UT At 1216 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near East Canyon State Park, or 8 miles east of Bountiful, moving northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Salt Lake City, Bountiful, Coalville, Centerville, East Canyon State Park, Emigration Canyon, Henefer, Hoytsville, Portersville, Echo, Echo Reservoir, Emory, and Croydon. This includes the following highways... Interstate 84 between mile markers 112 and 119. Interstate 80 in Utah between mile markers 160 and 183. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
