severe thunderstorm warning in effect At 5:35 p.m. CDT (5:35 p.m. EST), Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 8 kilometres northeast of Lost Lake to Namakan Lake, moving northeast at 65 km/h. Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts. Locations impacted include: Dryden, Eagle Lake, Upper Manitou Lake, Trap Lake, Mile Lake, Wabigoon Lake, Gold Rock, Entwine Lake, Little Turtle Lake, Bad Vermilion Lake, Butler Lake, Minnehaha Lake, Olsen Lake, Larson Lake, Mine Centre, Paulson Lake, Turtlepond Lake, Rock Lake, Seine River Village and Eltrut Lake. ### Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! tornado watch in effect Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms which may produce tornadoes. Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible. Hazards: Risk of tornadoes Wind gusts up to 100 km/h Heavy downpours Nickel sized hail Timing: Early this evening. Discussion: A line of thunderstorms will continue to push northeastward across the area early this evening. The main threats with these thunderstorms are strong wind gusts and a possible tornado. In addition, the moist airmass will allow for storms to produce heavy downpours. ### Tornado watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes. In the event of a tornado, or if a tornado warning is issued for your area, it is recommended you take the following actions: Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can.
