Flash Flood Warning issued June 3 at 2:54PM CDT until June 3 at 5:15PM CDT by NWS Tulsa OK At 254 PM CDT, trained weather spotters reported flash flooding in and near Fort Smith. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen, but the heavy rainfall has moved east of the warned area. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Trained spotters reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Fort Smith... Van Buren... Greenwood... Alma... Barling... Pocola... Roland... Lavaca... Arkoma... Hackett... Bonanza... Moffett... Fort Smith Regional Airport... Jenny Lind... Excelsior... Kibler... Central City... Concord... Mill Creek... Rye Hill... This includes the following highways... Interstate 540 between mile markers 1 and 14. Interstate 40 in Oklahoma between mile markers 321 and 328. Interstate 40 in Arkansas between mile markers 0 and 10. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In west central Arkansas, Franklin and Sebastian. * WHEN...Until 545 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 146 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms in east central Oklahoma, moving eastward into west central Arkansas. Minor flooding is expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are expected over the area in a short amount of time.
