Flood Warning issued April 28 at 4:30PM CDT until May 2 at 12:15PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Kansas... Neosho River at Oswego affecting Cherokee and Labette Counties. Neosho River near Parsons affecting Neosho and Labette Counties. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Neosho River at Oswego. * WHEN...Until early Thursday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 25.0 feet, The roads around the water pumping plant and the river gage site floods. Expect field and cropland flooding near the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:30 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 15.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 17.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 23.2 feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stage Wednesday evening. - Flood stage is 17.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. While widespread additional heavy rainfall is unlikely, any additional rain will only aggravate ongoing flooding concerns over southeast Kansas. * WHERE...A portion of Southeast Kansas, including the following counties, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.
