Special Weather Statement issued May 30 at 8:38PM CDT by NWS Hastings NE At 838 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8 miles north of Willow Island, or 20 miles northwest of Lexington, moving east at 5 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of northwestern Dawson County. This includes Interstate 80 between mile markers 214 and 222. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
