Special Weather Statement issued September 12 at 7:17PM CDT by NWS Shreveport LA At 717 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking an area of strong thunderstorms near Lisbon, or 9 miles west of El Dorado, moving southwest at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... El Dorado, Smackover, Norphlet, Junction City, Calion, Wesson, Lisbon, Mount Holly, Atlanta, Village, Spearsville, Lillie, Newell, Three Creeks, Cairo, Hew Hope, Catesville, Marysville and Summerfield. Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
