Edwards County in southeastern Illinois... * Until 245 PM CDT. * At 154 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Fairfield, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Fairfield, Albion, West Salem, Jeffersonville, Bone Gap, Browns, Mount Erie, and Golden Gate. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

For the Extreme Heat Watch, from Monday morning through Thursday evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A prolonged period of dangerous heat and humidity is expected this coming week. Many areas have already received amounts of 2-5", with localized swaths in excess of 6".
