HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater and small hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Strong thunderstorms will be near... Central Long Island Sound, Great Peconic Bay, Horton Point, Little Peconic Bay, Mattituck Inlet, Shinnecock Bay, and Shinnecock Inlet around 850 PM EDT. Dering Harbor, Shelter Island Sound, Falkner Island, and Shelter Island around 855 PM EDT. Six Mile Reef around 900 PM EDT. Gardiners Bay around 905 PM EDT. Orient Point, Plum Island, and Long Sand Shoal around 910 PM EDT. Gardiners Island around 915 PM EDT. Napeague Bay around 920 PM EDT. The Race, Western Block Island Sound, and Niantic Bay around 925 PM EDT. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, small hail, high waves, lightning, and heavy rain are expected with these storms.
