Coastal Flood Warning issued September 27 at 6:02AM EDT until September 27 at 6:00PM EDT by NWS Upton NY * WHAT...Two to three feet of inundation above ground level in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...In Connecticut, Southern Fairfield and Southern New Haven Counties. In New York, Southern Westchester County. * WHEN...Until 6 PM EDT this evening. * COASTAL IMPACTS...Locally moderate flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding. * SHOREFRONT/BEACH IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 2 to 4 feet, along with elevated water levels, will result in dune erosion with damage to a few waterfront structures across southeast and east facing shorelines. Splashover over seawalls and overwashes where dune structures are compromised may locally exacerbate flooding of roadways and vulnerable structures behind protective dunes. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.

Wind Advisory issued September 27 at 3:53AM EDT until September 27 at 12:00PM EDT by NWS Upton NY * WHAT...North winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 40-45 mph. * WHERE...All of New York City and Long Island in southeast New York, and coastal and southeast Connecticut. * WHEN...Until noon EDT today. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The strong winds will last for a very long duration, possibly exceeding 24-36 hours. Considering the long duration rain fall and full foliage of trees, impacts may be exacerbated. The highest localized winds are expected to occur on eastern Long Island and southern New London county. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects.
