HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Des Moines, Ames, West Des Moines, Ankeny, Urbandale, Fort Dodge, Johnston, Clive, Altoona, Waukee, Boone, Norwalk, Pleasant Hill, Grimes, Webster City, Nevada, Clarion, Windsor Heights, Carlisle, and Bondurant. This includes the following highways... Interstate 35 between mile markers 66 and 72, and between mile markers 87 and 152. Interstate 80 between mile markers 117 and 156. Interstate 235 between mile markers 1 and 14. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
