Algona, Lake Mills, Laurens, Union Slogh, Buffalo Center, West Bend, Bancroft, Rolfe, Burt, Whittemore, Thompson, Titonka, Wesley, Livermore, Corwith, Bode, Fenton, Lu Verne, Lakota and Rake. Flood Watch issued June 22 at 2:30AM CDT until June 22 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA A moderate risk of excessive rainfall continues early this morning with rainfall rates between 1 and 2 inches per hour possible. The heaviest rainfall in north central Iowa is just north of the Highway 20 corridor. Additional chances for rain will linger into midday with more storms possible in the eastern portion of the watch area this afternoon. If you live in or near the watch, please monitor the weather closely today. Review flooding safety plans now and be prepared if you must take action. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northeast, northwest, and west central Iowa, including the following counties, in central Iowa, Grundy, Hamilton, Hardin and Webster. In north central Iowa, Butler, Franklin, Humboldt and Wright. In northeast Iowa, Black Hawk and Bremer. In northwest Iowa, Pocahontas. In west central Iowa, Calhoun and Sac. * WHEN...Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Expected rainfall totals may reach 3 to 7 inches in some areas with locally higher amounts are possible. Rapid rises in creeks, streams and urban flooding will be possible. Field flooding and washed out county roads will also be possible. Rainfall rates may approach 2 inches per hour in the heavier storms. Nighttime flooding is especially dangerous due to the lack of light and ability to see flooding impacts.
