Heat Advisory issued July 4 at 2:48AM EDT until July 4 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Northern Indiana * WHAT...Heat index values as high as 100. * WHERE...Portions of northern Indiana and northwest Ohio. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Special Weather Statement issued July 4 at 3:02AM EDT by NWS Northern Indiana At 302 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Churubusco to 10 miles west of Fort Wayne to near Markle. Movement was east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Fort Wayne, Huntington, New Haven, Grabill, Aboite, Leo-cedarville, Middletown, Roanoke, Zanesville, Nine Mile, Bowerstown, Yoder, Dunfee, Poe, Hessen Cassel, Coesse, Wallen, Maples, Cuba, and Arcola. This includes the following highways... Interstate 469 between mile markers 0 and 30. Interstate 69 in Indiana between mile markers 290 and 318. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
