Special Weather Statement issued June 8 at 2:45AM CDT by NWS Aberdeen SD At 244 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Hecla to near Westport to near Mina Lake Rec Area. Movement was southeast at 45 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Aberdeen, Groton, Mina Lake Rec Area, Hecla, Frederick, Bath, Sunset Colony, Columbia, Westport, Claremont, Newport Colony, Putney, Hutterville Colony, Stratford, Barnard, Houghton, Tacoma Park, Amherst, Sand Lake Wildlife Refuge, and Richmond Lake Rec Area. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service office in Aberdeen.
