Flood Watch issued September 16 at 3:18AM MST until September 16 at 11:00PM MST by NWS Tucson AZ * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of Southeast Arizona, including the following areas, Baboquivari Mountains, Catalina and Rincon Mountains, Chiricahua Mountains, Dragoon and Mule and Huachuca and Santa Rita Mountains, Eastern Cochise County below 5000 feet, Galiuro and Pinaleno Mountains, South Central Pinal County, Southeast Pinal County, Tohono O'odham Nation, Tucson Metro Area, Upper Gila River Valley, Upper San Pedro River Valley, Upper Santa Cruz River Valley/Altar Valley, Western Pima County and White Mountains of Graham and Greenlee Counties. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Well above normal moisture levels for September are expected to result in scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rainfall today into this evening. Rain totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected with the stronger storms with isolated amounts over 2 inches possible. Areas that received substantial rainfall over the previous two to four days will be more susceptible to flash flooding. This rainfall will result in faster response in washes, creeks, and storm drainages. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Central Greenlee County in southeastern Arizona... * WHEN...Until 1115 AM MST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry washes. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 918 AM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Safford, Clifton, Thatcher, Solomon, Morenci, San Jose, Safford Regional Airport, Roper Lake State Park, Pima, Central, Swift Trail Junction, Guthrie, Frye Mesa Dam, Three Way and Mount Graham. - This includes the following highways... Route 78 near mile marker 155. Route 191 between mile markers 99 and 183...and near mile marker 185. Route 75 near mile marker 398. Route 70 between mile markers 327 and 368. Route 266 between mile markers 105 and 109...and between mile markers 114 and 116. This includes the following Flash Flood Prone Locations...
