Flood Advisory issued July 21 at 5:25PM PDT until July 21 at 8:30PM PDT by NWS Elko NV * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Nevada, in Elko County including Midas and the Midas Burn Scar. * WHEN...Until 830 PM PDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 524 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Midas and Midas Mine. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep terrain, especially in and around these areas.
