Red Flag Warning issued June 20 at 9:03AM AKDT until June 21 at 10:00PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect until 10 PM AKDT Sunday. * AFFECTED AREA...Middle Yukon Valley and Lower Yukon and Innoko Valleys. * TIMING...Until 10 PM AKDT Sunday. * THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE INDEX...Numerous. * WINDS...Near thunderstorms, gusts could reach as high as 40 mph. * HUMIDITY...As low as 30 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Highs in the mid 80s. Lows in the upper 40s. * IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected this weekend due to a combination of thunderstorm activity, temperatures reaching into the upper 70s to low 80s, relative humidities near 30 percent, and gusty winds. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Thunderstorms still looks to be the most active across the southwestern portion of our region, with a focus from McGrath north toward Galena. A Red Flag Warning means that conditions are occurring or will occur which could lead to the development of large and dangerous fires. It is directed toward fire agencies, and through them, to the public. Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the field of this Red Flag Warning.
