Flood Warning issued June 26 at 9:08AM CDT until June 27 at 9:18PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Kansas... Whitewater River at Towanda affecting Butler County. Whitewater River at Augusta affecting Butler and Cowley Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Whitewater River at Augusta. * WHEN...From this evening to late tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS...At 21.0 feet, Flooding of low lying areas can be expected, especially rural roads west of town approximately 1 mile. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:15 AM CDT Friday the stage was 17.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this evening to a crest of 22.0 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow morning. - Flood stage is 21.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued this evening at 915 PM CDT.

Flood Warning issued June 26 at 12:23PM CDT until June 26 at 3:00PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of south central Kansas, including the following counties, Butler, Harvey, Reno and Sedgwick. * WHEN...Until 300 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1221 PM CDT, emergency management reported flooding in the warned area. Flooding is already occurring. Between 4 and 7 inches of rain fell overnight. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. Flood waters are beginning to recede, but it will take some time for roads to re-open. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Wichita, Hutchinson, Derby, Newton, El Dorado, Andover, Haysville, Augusta, Park City, Valley Center, Bel Aire, Goddard, Rose Hill, Maize, Halstead, Sedgwick, Towanda, Colwich, Haven and Burrton. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
