Flood Watch issued July 10 at 2:41PM EDT until July 12 at 8:00AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall will be possible. * WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast, south central, and southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in east central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Menifee, Montgomery, Powell and Rowan. In northeast Kentucky, Johnson and Martin. In south central Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Wolfe. * WHEN...Through Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms producing locally heavy rainfall are expected into the weekend. Already wet soils in some areas will make those locations more susceptible to flooding. Localized significant flooding may develop if some places receive several inches of rainfall. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Special Weather Statement issued July 10 at 4:11PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 410 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Printer, or 9 miles south of Prestonsburg, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Pikeville, Prestonsburg, Coal Run Village, Martin, Wayland, Allen, East McDowell, Endicott, Coal Run, Zebulon, Printer, Langley, Arkansas, Aluba, McDowell, Betsy Layne, Ivel, Honaker, Raccoon, and Blue River. THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS... Kentucky Highway 80 in Floyd County between mile markers 3 and 14. U.S. Highway 119 in Pike County between mile markers 1 and 6. U.S. Highway 23 in Floyd County between mile markers 1 and 14. U.S. Highway 23 in Pike County between mile markers 22 and 32. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
