Flood Advisory issued July 19 at 9:55PM EDT until July 20 at 12:00AM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central North Carolina, including the following counties, Anson, Richmond and Scotland. * WHEN...Until midnight EDT tonight. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 955 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Laurinburg, Hamlet, Gibson, Morven, Peachland, East Laurinburg, McFarlan, Diggs, Laurel Hill and White Store. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Laurinburg, Maxton, Antioch, Wagram, Gibson, East Laurinburg, Laurel Hill, and Sandhills Game Land. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Laurinburg, Rockingham, Raeford, Hamlet, Maxton, Hoffman, Antioch, Dobbins Heights, Wagram, and Gibson. This includes Interstate 73 near Mile Marker 26. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
