This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Wapsipinicon River near De Witt 4S. * WHEN...Until early Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 12.5 feet, Water affects old U.S. Highway 61 near the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 12.5 feet and steady. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 12.6 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday morning. - Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. The next statement will be issued by Thursday evening at 845 PM CDT.
