Flood Warning issued September 19 at 9:05PM CDT until September 21 at 3:00AM CDT by NWS Chicago IL ...The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Illinois...Indiana... Little Calumet River at Munster (Hohman Avenue) affecting Lake IN and Cook Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Little Calumet River from IN-912 in Hammond downstream to confluence with Thorn Creek in South Holland, including the Munster (Hohman Avenue) gauge. * WHEN...From early Sunday morning to late Sunday night. * IMPACTS...At 12.5 feet, Most areas outside of the levee-protected area are inundated in Hammond and Munster. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 PM CDT Saturday the stage was 6.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Sunday morning to a crest of 13.8 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening. - Flood stage is 12.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Warning means water levels above flood stage are imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along rivers and streams in the warned area should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 24 hours into the future. Changes to the rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 24 hours, may cause changes to these river forecasts. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. Flood Watch issued September 19 at 8:23PM CDT until September 20 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas, Boone, Central Cook, De Kalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake IL, Lee, McHenry, Northern Cook, Northern Will, Ogle, Southern Cook and Winnebago and northwest Indiana, including the following areas, Lake IN and Porter. * WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected late this evening and overnight. Swaths of heavy to very heavy rainfall with 2+ inch per hour rainfall rates are likely to occur within the watch area and may result in areas of flash flooding and cause rapid rises on area rivers, creeks, and streams. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Watch for flash flooding means rapid-onset flooding is possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts. Flash flooding is a dangerous situation. Persons with interests along area rivers, creeks, and other waterways should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Waves 5 to 8 ft expected. * WHERE...Lake County IN. * WHEN...From Sunday morning through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Swimming conditions will be life threatening, especially for inexperienced swimmers. Remain out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions and do not venture out onto piers, jetties, breakwalls, or other shoreline structures.
