Flood Watch issued September 28 at 12:24AM MDT until September 30 at 12:00AM MDT by NWS Salt Lake City UT * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of Utah, including the following areas, Capitol Reef National Park and Vicinity, Glen Canyon Recreation Area/Lake Powell, South Central Utah, Western Canyonlands, Lower Washington County and Zion National Park. * WHEN...From 6 AM MDT this morning through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, dry washes, slot canyons, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations such as slickrock areas and recent burn scars. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Deep tropical moisture will combine with an upper level low crossing the Desert Southwest to bring an increased threat of flash flooding through Tuesday evening. East Central Washington County in southwestern Utah... * WHEN...Until 100 AM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 852 PM MDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in Heaps Canyon due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is already occurring. Between 0.5 and 1.25 inches of rain have fallen. Additional showers will continue overnight, resulting in continued elevated flows and flooding of area canyons, washes, creeks, streams, etc. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flooding is occurring or is imminent.
