Flood Watch issued September 23 at 11:11AM EDT until September 23 at 10:00PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall will be possible. * WHERE...The Flood Watch includes the Kentucky counties of Johnson, Martin, Laurel, Whitley, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe. * WHEN...The Flood Watch is in effect until 10 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, and other low lying and flood prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. Locations that are impacted by repeated heavy downpours may receive excessive rainfall which leads to flash flooding. Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Special Weather Statement issued September 23 at 6:04PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 604 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Davisport, or near Inez, moving northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Paintsville, Prestonsburg, Inez, Warfield, Add, Pilgrim, Oaklawn Estates, Fitz, Davella, Whitehouse, Meally, Prince, Collista, West Van Lear, Williamsport, Offutt, Milo, Lovely, Job, and Buffalo. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
