Northeastern Gallia County in southeastern Ohio... Meigs County in southeastern Ohio... Southwestern Washington County in southeastern Ohio... Northwestern Jackson County in northwestern West Virginia... Western Wood County in northwestern West Virginia... North Central Mason County in western West Virginia... * WHEN...Until 1045 AM EDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 444 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Athens, Pomeroy, Coolville, Rutland, Forked Run State Park, Mason, Tuppers Plains, Middleport, Chester, Syracuse, Hartford City, Darwin, Harrisonville, Dexter, Dyesville, Reedsville, Portland and Salem Center. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Special Weather Statement issued September 21 at 9:37AM EDT by NWS Charleston WV At 937 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Somerset to near Athens to 7 miles south of Albany. Movement was east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Athens, Nelsonville, New Lexington, Pomeroy, Glouster, McConnelsville, Somerset, Albany, Racine, Shawnee, Coolville, Rutland, Chesterhill, Perry State Forest, Forked Run State Park, New Haven, Mason, Washington, Tuppers Plains, and Crooksville. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
