Turkey River at Garber affecting Clayton County. ...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Major severity and increased in duration for the following rivers in Iowa... Turkey River at Elkader affecting Clayton County. * WHAT...Major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Turkey River at Garber. * WHEN...From this afternoon to late Monday night. * IMPACTS...At 26.0 feet, The earthen levee at Elkport is threatened, just upstream of Garber. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:15 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 9.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 15.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this afternoon to a crest of 26.0 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage early Monday afternoon. - Flood stage is 17.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 25.6 feet on 09/23/2016. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Flood Watch issued September 19 at 12:10PM CDT until September 19 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS La Crosse WI Much of the watch area has seen 2 to upwards of 7 inches of rain over the last 24 hours. As this water continues to route through the system, additional rises on rivers and flooding of roadways, parks, and low elevation areas is likely over the next 6 to 12 hours. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches if possible through this evening. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northeast Iowa, including the following counties, Clayton and Fayette and southwest Wisconsin, including the following counties, Crawford, Grant and Richland. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
