South Central Emery County in central Utah... * Until 900 PM MDT. * At 709 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated another thunderstorm producing heavy rain approaching the warned area. As this storm crosses the area, an additional 0.5 to 1.0 inches of rain is expected over portions of the San Rafael Swell, including Muddy Creek, Ramp, Cistern, Ding, Dang, Bell, Little Wildhorse, Crack and Chute Canyons. This will result in another flood wave moving through these drainages. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of slot canyons and normally dry washes. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Flood Watch issued September 15 at 11:58AM MDT until September 17 at 6:00AM MDT by NWS Salt Lake City UT * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of Utah, including the following areas, San Rafael Swell and Capitol Reef National Park and Vicinity. * WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon through late Wednesday night. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, dry washes, slot canyons, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations such as slickrock areas and recent burn scars. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Deep moisture will remain in place across the region. Several disturbances will fuel development of thunderstorms with rainfall rates in excess of 0.25 to 0.50 inches per hour. In areas with training thunderstorms, rainfall rates will exceed 0.50 inches per hour.
