High Wind Warning issued June 14 at 10:54PM MDT until June 16 at 9:00AM MDT by NWS Great Falls MT * WHAT...West winds 35 to 45 mph, with gusts up to 70 mph. * WHERE...East Glacier Park Region Zone, and Southern High Plains. * WHEN...From 3 PM Saturday to 9 AM MDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The period of most intense winds are currently expected to occur from Saturday evening through early Sunday morning when mountain wave activity will be the strongest. People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Remember, a High Wind Warning means that there is at least an 80% chance of 40 mph sustained winds or 58 mph wind gusts occurring during the warning period.

Those in the backcountry should ensure they have appropriate knowledge and gear and may want to consider alternate plans. The heavy, wet nature of snow can bring down tree limbs and power lines. Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation. Remember, a Winter Storm Watch means that there is at least a 50% chance of impactful winter weather conditions during the watch period.
