yellow watch - severe thunderstorm - in effect Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Locations: Portions of southern Manitoba. Potential rainfall rates: locally 30 to 50 mm per hour in thunderstorms. Potential wind gusts: 90 km/h or higher in thunderstorms. Time span: Continuing through this evening. Remarks: Thunderstorms, some of which may be severe, continue to track across parts of southern Manitoba starting this evening. Storms will continue to develop along a frontal boundary tracking across the southern portion of the province. As they move east‑northeast, the main threats will be large hail (2.5–4 cm), strong gusty winds, and heavy rainfall. The risk of severe weather will gradually diminish this evening, progressing from west to east. ### Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected], call 1-800-239-0484 or post reports on X using #MBStorm. Be prepared for severe weather. If threatening weather approaches, take cover in a basement or interior room. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
