Heat Advisory issued June 21 at 2:39PM EDT until June 22 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Wakefield VA * WHAT...Heat index values up to 105 expected. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, eastern, north central, south central, and southeast Virginia. * WHEN...From 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Oppressive heat and humidity will overspread the area Saturday and continue into Sunday. Temperatures only fall back into the mid 70s to near 80 for most Saturday night which will compound heat stress on those without air conditioning. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
