The axis of the heaviest rainfall over the past 72 hours fell across SW Minnesota and N Iowa. This has resulted in a slight lower trend with upcoming crests. Moderate to major flooding is still forecast for many mainstem forecast points. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Minnesota River at Savage. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 712.0 feet, Water begins to back up in Credit River to affect hwy 101. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1000 AM CDT Saturday, the stage was 705.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 1000 AM CDT Saturday was 705.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 711.4 feet early Friday afternoon. - Flood stage is 702.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 711.6 feet on 03/29/2011. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
