Flood Advisory issued May 27 at 1:41PM AST until May 27 at 5:00PM AST by NWS San Juan PR * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Aguada, Aguadilla, Anasco, Arecibo, Camuy, Hatillo, Isabela, Lares, Moca, Quebradillas, Rincon and San Sebastian. * WHEN...Until 500 PM AST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 139 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen, with the highest totals in Hatillo, San Sebastian, Isabela, and Anasco. This activity will spread west-northwestward into coastal municipalities during the next hour or so. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Arecibo, San Sebastian, Quebradillas, Lares, Isabela, Camuy, Hatillo, Moca, Aguadilla, Anasco, Las Marias, Aguada, Rincon, Hato Arriba, Aceitunas, Rafael Gonzalez, Rafael Capo, Caban, Luyando and La Playa. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Special Weather Statement issued May 27 at 1:17PM AST by NWS San Juan PR At 116 PM AST, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms extending between Arecibo westward to Moca, moving west at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. Frequent lightning. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Arecibo, Aguadilla, Aguada, Rincon, Moca, Anasco, Camuy, Quebradillas, San Sebastian, Las Marias, Isabela, Mayaguez, Utuado, Lares, Hatillo, La Playa, Aceitunas, Caban, Rafael Capo, and San Antonio. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
