Flash Flood Warning issued September 19 at 5:54AM CDT until September 19 at 10:15AM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL At 554 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen with the heaviest amounts occurring in central Jo Daviess county between Schapville and Woodbine. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Dubuque, Freeport, Galena, Asbury, Dyersville, Lena, Bellevue, Cascade, Stockton, Epworth, East Dubuque, Farley, Warren, Peosta, Hanover, Pearl City, Elizabeth, Cedarville, Davis and Woodbine. This includes the following State Parks... Apple River Canyon State Park and Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Recreation Area. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Flood Watch issued September 19 at 1:45AM CDT until September 20 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL * WHAT...Flooding and flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of northwest Illinois, including the following counties, Carroll, Jo Daviess, Stephenson and Whiteside and Iowa, including the following counties, Buchanan, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson and Jones. * WHEN...Through Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rounds of showers and storms are expected through tonight. These storms will be capable of rainfall rates between 1 to 2 inches per hour. Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are likely in the hardest hit areas through early Sunday morning with the potential for localized areas of 3+ inches. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flash Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
