Flash Flood Warning issued September 17 at 8:39AM CDT until September 17 at 11:00AM CDT by NWS Chicago IL At 839 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas, and other poor drainage areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Sandwich, Mendota, Amboy, Sheridan, Lake Holiday, Somonauk, Earlville, Leland, Paw Paw, Sublette, Woodhaven Lakes, Millington, Compton and West Brooklyn. A Flash Flood Warning means rapid-onset flooding is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along creeks, drainage ditches, and other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life and property.

Roads and streets may be flooded. Slow moving or standing water may continue. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 826 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - A Flash Flood Warning also remains in effect for a portion of the advisory area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
