Flood Warning issued June 20 at 7:21PM CDT until June 20 at 10:15PM CDT by NWS Birmingham AL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central Alabama, including the following counties, Jefferson and Walker. * WHEN...Until 1015 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 719 PM CDT, heavy rain has ended but lingering flooding continues and some creeks likely remain out of their banks. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Western Birmingham, Gardendale, Fultondale, Sumiton, Dora, Adamsville, Graysville, Brookside, Mulga, Sipsey, Maytown, West Jefferson, Cardiff, Quinton, Burnwell, Forestdale, Minor, Edgewater, McDonald Chapel and Rocky Hollow. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
