Wayne County in central North Carolina... Southwestern Wilson County in central North Carolina... Southeastern Johnston County in central North Carolina... * Until 845 PM EDT. * At 754 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles west of Fremont, or 11 miles east of Smithfield, moving south at 20 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Goldsboro, Fremont, Walnut Creek, Micro, Selma, Pine Level, Kenly, Princeton, Lucama, and Black Creek. This includes Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 107 and 98. Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris generated by damaging winds can be deadly.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Goldsboro, Clayton, Fremont, Micro, Selma, Kenly, Lucama, Middlesex, Stantonsburg, and Pikeville. This includes the following highways... Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 107 and 101. NC Highway 264 between Mile Markers 23 and 25. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
