Flood Advisory issued July 19 at 10:44PM EDT until July 20 at 2:00AM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central North Carolina, including the following counties, Davidson, Montgomery, Moore, Randolph and Stanly. * WHEN...Until 200 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1044 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Asheboro, Albemarle, Troy, Badin Lake, North Carolina Zoo, Biscoe, Seagrove, Plyler, Badin, Denton, Robbins, Star, Richfield, New London, Eldorado, Whip-O-Will Campground, Martha, Pinehaven Marina, Fish Tales Marina and Steeds. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Special Weather Statement issued July 20 at 12:12AM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC At 1212 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Troy, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Troy, Carthage, Biscoe, Whispering Pines, Robbins, Star, Candor, Vass, Steeds, and Highfalls. This includes Interstate 73 between Mile Markers 37 and 59. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
