Flood Warning issued June 22 at 10:54AM CDT until June 22 at 11:00PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northwest Iowa, including the following counties, Emmet and Palo Alto. * WHEN...Until 1100 PM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1052 AM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is occurring. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain fell. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Estherville, Emmetsburg, Five Island Lake, High Lake, Ingham Lake, Swan Lake, Lost Island Lake, Silver Lake, Okamanpedan Lake, Rush Lake, Iowa Lake, Armstrong, Graettinger, West Bend, Ruthven, Ringsted, Mallard, Wallingford, Ayrshire and Gruver. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2" is likely, with locally higher amounts possible. If you live in or near the watch, please continue to monitor the weather closely today. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of north central and northwest Iowa, including the following counties, in north central Iowa, Cerro Gordo, Hancock, Kossuth, Winnebago and Worth. In northwest Iowa, Emmet and Palo Alto. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms developing this afternoon and evening may bring additional rainfall of 1 to 2" or more to areas that saw heavy rainfall last night. This may delay improvement to any ongoing flood conditions and lead to brief flooding or ponding of water as storms pass through.
