IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Strong thunderstorms will be near... Smithtown Bay and Norwalk Islands around 920 PM EDT. Penfield Reef around 925 PM EDT. Port Jefferson Harbor, Stratford Shoal, and Bridgeport around 930 PM EDT. Mouth of the Housatonic River around 935 PM EDT. Herod Point around 945 PM EDT. New Haven Harbor around 950 PM EDT. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, small hail, high waves, lightning, and heavy rain are expected with these storms. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.
