Fire Weather Watch issued July 23 at 9:18AM PDT until July 25 at 9:00PM PDT by NWS Spokane WA ...RED FLAG WARNING FOR THUNDERSTORMS THURSDAY, FIRE WEATHER WATCHES FOR WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY... A ridge breakdown will first bring a threat for thunderstorms across portions of central and north-central Washington today and tonight. Drier weather arrives Friday and Saturday, though winds will become increasingly gusty with critical fire weather conditions likely. * Affected Area: Colville Reservation (Zone 702). * Lightning: 15 to 30 percent chance of thunderstorms from 1 PM Thursday to 2 AM Friday. Gusty and erratic outflow winds up to 35 mph possible in any thunderstorms. * Winds: Friday afternoon winds - Southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Saturday afternoon winds - Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * Relative Humidities: 12 to 25 percent. * Impacts: New fire starts from lightning Thursday. New and existing fires could be impacted by gusty outflow winds. Gusty winds and low humidity Friday and Saturday afternoon may lead to rapid fire spread with any new or ongoing fires. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings.

Heat Advisory issued July 22 at 10:48PM PDT until July 23 at 9:00PM PDT by NWS Spokane WA * WHAT...Hot temperatures with daytime highs in the mid 90s to low 100s Thursday. This will pose a moderate to major risk of heat-related illness. * WHERE...Portions of North and North Central Idaho and Central, East Central, North Central, Northeast, and Southeast Washington. * WHEN...Until 9 PM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Limited overnight relief expected across the lower elevations Thursday morning with low temperatures in the mid 60s to mid 70s. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Air Quality Alert issued July 22 at 9:53AM PDT by NWS Spokane WA An Air Quality Alert has been issued by the following agencies: Washington Department of Ecology Colville Confederated Tribes Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency An Air Quality Alert has been issued for Whitman and Adams Counties and continues for Spokane, Ferry, Lincoln, Okanogan, Grant, Adams, Whitman, Pend Oreille, and Stevens Counties, through Friday, July 24th at 11 AM, due to current and expected wildfire smoke from regional fires. Particulate matter (PM2.5) levels are expected to range in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups and Unhealthy categories. In Eastern Okanogan County near active wildfires, air quality may reach Very Unhealthy to Hazardous levels. When air quality is Unhealthy, everyone should reduce exposure. Limit time outside, avoid strenuous activity, and follow tips for cleaner indoor air.
